Vinous Neal Martin - 05 Jan 23
The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Genavrières 1er Cru has a strict, uncompromising and almost "bolshie" bouquet following the far more flattering Faconnières. The palate is where the real pedigree lies: vibrant red fruit laced with blood orange and is mineral-driven towards its harmonious finish. The aromatics are just a bit fermé at the time of my visit, but based on the potential of the palate, this will turn into a divine Morey-Saint-Denis.

Morey-Saint-Denis

Morey-Saint-Denis, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is known for its elegant, well-structured Pinot Noir wines that balance the power of Gevrey-Chambertin and the finesse of Chambolle-Musigny. These wines feature flavours of red and black fruits, earthy spices, and floral notes, with refined tannins and excellent ageing potential. Home to five Grand Cru vineyards, including Clos de Tart and Clos Saint-Denis, top producers like Domaine Dujac, Domaine Ponsot, and Domaine des Lambrays are celebrated for their traditional winemaking and expressive wines.
